Evidence Standards

Research Policy

We match each conclusion to the level of evidence that can genuinely support it.

Source hierarchy

  1. Regulators and government health resources
  2. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  3. High-quality clinical studies
  4. Academic institutions and recognized reference sources
  5. Manufacturers for product identity, label, and directions only

Four evidence layers

Ingredient evidenceDoes an ingredient have relevant human research?
Dose-relevant evidenceIs the studied form and amount comparable?
Formula evidenceWas the exact or a materially similar combination studied?
Finished-product evidenceWas the marketed product itself studied?

Evidence strength

We use: High, Moderate, Low, Very Low / Insufficient, or Not Assessed. Dose relevance is described as Comparable, Partially Comparable, Not Comparable, or Cannot Determine.

Manufacturer sources

Manufacturer materials can verify a current label or stated directions. They are not treated as independent proof that the manufacturer's product is effective.

Uncertainty

When a fact cannot be verified, we state “Not Verified,” “Cannot Determine,” or omit the claim.
